Great job, Muncie Police Department!
On behalf of TEAM SONITROL, we want to say thank you to Muncie Police Department for a recent apprehension. When our Central Station operator, DJ, received a panic alarm at a convenience store we monitor, he heard the stress in a woman’s voice from the audio feed and immediately dispatched law enforcement. A special shout out goes to Officer Vogel and Officer Thornton for apprehending the suspect who was allegedly exposing himself and chasing after a woman in the shop. Misty took donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts and certificates of appreciation to say thanks. Great job, DJ and Muncie Police Department!

Flashback Founder Files
In 1969, our founder, “Doc” Standring, opened his Sonitrol franchise, a verified electronic security company. Over fifty years later, we continue to protect commercial and residential properties with innovative technology and a team of professionals who are always on the job twenty-four hours a day. Call us for a free consultation at (800)444-1191. We love this excerpt from an archived interview with Dr. Standring:
When Standring opened Sonitrol of Evansville, he staffed it with part-time sales people and part-time installers. Standring himself worked weekdays as a dentist and evenings and weekends at his Sonitrol franchise. “We had very little overhead,” says Standring of the early days, “and I typed the invoices out on a typewriter at my house. I had a direct line in my office and when people would call me, they thought I was Sonitrol’s office.” Said Standring, “One of our first few customers was a personal friend who had a drugstore. We collared a guy coming through the roof the second night it was installed.”
Security solutions you can trust
With the purpose of providing sophisticated, verified alarms to his community in order to help law enforcement officers increase criminal apprehensions, in 1969, our founder, Dr. William “Doc” Standring opened Sonitrol. Our team continually contributes to Sonitrol’s North American record of 182,704 apprehensions and counting. We offer a variety of security solutions including the following: Verified Audio Detection, SonaVision (Verified Video Monitoring), Cameras and DVRs, U.L. Fire Systems, Access Control, Medical Alert Pendants, and Panic Buttons. A security design consultant is available to design the security solution for your property at (800) 444-1191.
Verified security is the only way to go!
When a traditional security company notifies police of an alarm, they aren’t typically aware of what tripped the alarm. Was it an air-conditioning vent that kicked on and knocked a poster off the wall? A warehouse critter that set off a motion detector? With Sonitrol, our team of operators can zero in through video, audio sensors, or both to determine what is actually happening at the location. Whether it is the sound of intruders whispering or knocking repetitively at an obscure point of entry, our team will be able to VERIFY to dispatch that a break-in is being attempted. This means law enforcement will have more information about the alarm they are responding to, and it also means less false alarms. EPD appreciation!
Last week, our Central Station operator, Chaz, dispatched law enforcement to a restaurant Sonitrol monitors when he received suspicious audio with voices from the location. Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by Evansville Police Department, apprehended two suspects who had broken in through a drive-thru window for a late-night snack. To say thank you to EPD Officer Jason Martin and Sergeant Karges for their assistance in the apprehension, team Sonitrol’s Flavia took sandwiches and wraps from The Granola Jar, certificates of appreciation, and Sonitrol hats to EPD last night. Pictured: Officer Jason Martin. Thank you for your service to our community!
Panic alarm apprehension!
Apprehension Alert! Yesterday, our Central Station operator, DJ, received a panic alarm at a business monitored by Sonitrol. Right away, DJ was able to pick up the stress in a woman’s voice from the audio feed, and he dispatched police. Law enforcement apprehended the suspect who was allegedly exposing himself and chasing after a woman in the store. Way to go, Muncie Police Department and DJ!
Two arrested after breaking-in for a late night snack!
In the middle of the night, our Central Station operator, Chaz, received suspicious audio with voices from a local restaurant monitored by Sonitrol. Chaz dispatched law enforcement, and EPD made two apprehensions. The suspects had broken in through a drive-thru window for a late night snack, but little did they know they had tripped the alarm and Sonitrol was listening to protect the business. Great job, EPD and Chaz! If your commercial property isn’t monitored by a Sonitrol audio alarm, call us today for a free security consult at (800)444-1191. Sonitrol plus Police equals more apprehensions!
Restaurant apprehension!
Shortly after midnight, our Central Station operator, Maye, received an alarm at a local restaurant with one of our verified alarms and dispatched police. Law enforcement officers arrived on scene, located someone inside the building, and made an apprehension. Nice job, Maye and the Evansville Police Department!
