Is all the software compatible?
As of April 8th, Microsoft will no longer provide tech support for Windows XP. The lack of security updates and patches has significant implications for businesses who have high security data on their servers. Many financial institutions and other businesses that store personal data like social security numbers and credit card information must stay compliant with security audit requirements. Therefore, they must upgrade to Windows 7 or later versions.
However, it always seems like changes in technology are not without some issues! If you view cameras from a remote location, this next question is for you:
Is the Remote Client software on your PC compatible with your DVR? You may want to check before you switch your operating system. Ensure that your remote client will work on your new PC and still connect to your older DVR. The last thing you want to do is update your PC and not be able to view your cameras! If you purchased your video surveillance equipment from a trusted provider, call them BEFORE updating your operating system to check for any compatibility issues with your CCTV DVR software. They will also have recommendations if any issues arise. Knowing how your systems will operate before you update may save you a world of trouble!!!
Simply put: Before you upgrade to Windows 7 or later version, make sure you will be able to see your cameras!
