Misty and the team from Sonitrol of Muncie were excited to present a check to Muncie Police Department on Friday for the purchase of Officer K9 Rock. At the ceremony, Sonitrol met with Mayor Dan Ridenour, Chief of Police Nate Sloan, and Assistant Chief of Police Chris Deegan. From the K-9 unit we met Officer Joshua Carrington, Officer Dani Bradford, K9 Rasse, Officer Zac Osborn, and K9 Bascao. Also pictured were representatives from Greg Hubler Ford as they are purchasing the bulletproof vest for K9 Rock.
The MPD K-9 Unit recently announced the upcoming retirement of one of their most dependable K9s, Officer Jan. Officer Jan and his human, Officer Joshua Carrington, have apprehended approximately fifty fleeing suspects during their time together and have contributed to countless narcotics and firearms seizures.
Sonitrol of Muncie donated the necessary funds to purchase the new crime fighter. With the purchase of the K9, Officer Carrington and team will be one step closer to training and preparing the latest MPD recruit to respond to the city of Muncie’s needs. Along with the privilege of helping the Muncie Police Department, Sonitrol of Muncie was asked to name the K9.
“Our team ultimately decided to name the officer K9 Rock as a tribute to my dad, Sonitrol of Muncie’s owner, Dr. Mark Standring. Since Dad is an Indiana dentist with a passion for rock-n-roll and playing the drums, he’s often called by the nickname, Dr. Rock. Naming the new K9 in honor of Dad seemed like a great way to celebrate the donation.” ~Sam Standring, General Manager of Sonitrol of Muncie
Sonitrol of Muncie is looking forward to meeting Officer K9 Rock, and we are thankful for our law enforcement heroes.
